Sambucus is a type of tree or plant with flowers that comes in many varieties. One of those varieties, the Sambucus nigra, is also known as the European elderberry or black elder and is native to Europe. The European black elder (aka black elderberry) are dark berries that, for centuries, have been traditionally used for immune support during the winter months.** As more studies continue to grow, research has found that the active constituents found in elderberries may provide even more health benefits.

At an optimal altitude of 300-700 meters, our elderberries are sourced from nutrient-rich soil in the foothills of the Styrian region of Austria. They are then inspected for quality and frozen on the same day they are picked to ensure freshness. Then, the elder berry is made into extract without any added chemicals, dyes, or solvents.

Nature’s Way® Sambucus uses the Haschberg variety of elderberries and are 100% hand-picked and harvested for optimal ripeness. Anthocyanins, a key contributor to the health benefits associated with elderberries, is naturally-occurring in elevated levels in the Haschberg variety. Containing a blend of Black elderberry extract standardized to BioActives® (flavonoids) in addition to vitamin C and zinc, Nature’s Way® elderberry gummies provide an easy way to support immune health.**
